For the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, Cimolai S.p.A. was responsible for the preparation of the detailed fabrication drawings, as well as for the fabrication, supply and erection of the structural steelwork for the Milan Santa Giulia Multipurpose Arena. Designed to host the Olympic ice hockey competitions and, subsequently, concerts and other sporting and entertainment events, the arena has a seating capacity of 16,000 spectators. A comprehensive global finite element model of the structural steelwork was developed in Straus7 using beam elements. The model enabled a construction stage analysis to be carried out in order to assess the structural behaviour throughout the temporary erection phases, monitor the expected deformations, and support the execution of site operations under safe and controlled structural conditions.
